ISOS News Alert
MRG Foundation Grant
Islamic Social Services of Oregon State
(I-SOS), a 501c3 tax-exempt social service charitable organization, was the
recipient of a $3,500 grant from the McKenzie River Gathering Foundation (MRG
Foundation) early in 2008. This is I-SOS's first time in receiving a grant and
fortunately from an organization that promotes local grass roots organizations
that try to make a positive difference within our local communities.
The McKenzie River Gathering Foundation (MRG
Foundation) acts as a bridge between Oregonians with resources and a progressive
vision for social change and activists employing innovative strategies to
eliminate the root causes of racism, poverty, violence, militarism, and
environmental degradation. That bridge has served as a conduit for needed
resources, and as a unifying force among communities too long divided by
prejudice, economic inequality, and geography. MRG Foundation pools the
financial resources of Oregon's progressive community and distributes it back to
grassroots groups working on a variety of social change issues.
We would like to thank
MRG Foundation for their support and confidence in I-SOS being one among many
that are impacting the well-being of our community. Information on I-SOS
projects that benefited from the fund will be posted on the I-SOS website early
in summer 2008.
